Steve Carell and Keira Knightley are two of my favorite performers. Steve Carell because he is so funny.

Keira Knightley because she is so incredibly cute. And that’s not totally fair to Keira Knightley, because she is also very talented.

My two favorite movies starring Keira Knightley are “Atonement” and “Never Let Me Go.”

At any rate, Steve Carell and Keira Knightley are two of my favorites. So, when I see a movie advertisement that features both of them, I take note.

Such is the case with “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” – a movie about what people do with their last time on Earth before a catastrophic event ends it all.

I’ve seen this movie before. Not this particular movie. But, a movie strikingly similar. I saw it on Netflix streaming service about a month ago… so, it took me a minute to realize, “Wait a minute… that sounds like, uh, what was that movie’s name…?”

The movie’s name was “Last Night”, and, it came out in 1998. It didn’t make much of an impression, even though it starred Sandra Oh and Sarah Polley.

Just as in “Last Night”, in the movie “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World”, an asteroid has taken aim at good ole’ planet Earth. Everyone knows the precise time that the asteroid (named Matilda in “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World”) will hit.

So, everyone knows how long they have left, and, they get to choose what they want to do with this time.

I didn’t much like “Last Night”. I thought it was ok, but, it drifted, and, didn’t really deliver any message.

Hopefully, “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” will be better.

If not, then Steve Carell fans do not have to feel bad for long. Anchorman 2 will hit theaters sometime in 2013.

And, for Keira Knightley fans, keep the faith. Ms. Knightley will be starring in “Anna Karenina” which is due in theaters in 2012.

I look forward to “Anna Karenina”. I’ll probably wait for Netflix for Anchorman 2.

And, I’ll probably wait for Netflix for “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.”

And it could slip way down the Netflix que if another season of The Walking Dead gets posted on Netflix.

As I think I mentioned, I’ve seen the movie before and didn’t like it much the first time.
