I’ve been getting ready for the new Hunger Games installment. The movie “Catching Fire” is due out in Fall, 2013. I picked up a copy of the book at a local bookstore. It’s wonderful. Can’t wait for the movie.
(No spoilers here).
In the book “Catching Fire”, Katniss explains, “What is a mockingjay?”
Well, it ends up that a mocking jay is the product of mating by male “jabberjays” and female “mockingbirds”.
I had always wondered where the phrase came from.
What is a “jabberjay”? A jabberjay is… well, I said no spoilers.
At any rate, the second installment of the Hunger Games trilogy takes place after Katniss and Peeta have returned home to District 12 as victors in the Hunger Games (the first movie). And, of course, Gale (Katniss’ long time friend) vies for her attention.
But, that’s all you’ll get from me. No spoilers here. The book is excellent. To read the book “Catching Fire” before seeing the movie? Your call. What do you think? Did you read the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy before seeing the movie?
